How To Rewire Your Brain For Success

The Happiness of Pursuit Podcast – Episode #80 with Colette Streicher

How To Rewire Your Brain For Success

Happiness is undervalued in our lives…we value hardwork, and success, but none of those are possible without happiness

I recently finished reading “Stealing Fire” by Steven Kotler and Jamie Wheal. The book is about “Silicon Valley executives like Eric Schmidt and Elon Musk, Special Operators like the Navy SEALs and the Green Berets, and maverick scientists like Sasha Shulgin and Amy Cuddy have turned everything we thought we knew about high-performance upside down.”

Within minutes of talking to Colette Streicher, I saw an instant connection to how high performers are using a heightened state of consciousness to up their game to a new level.

Colette Streicher moved to the United States from France in 1995. In 2001, she graduated from the University of Houston with a Master’s Degree in Social Work with a specialization in family therapy.  Colette currently operates a successful international practice as Peak Performance Coach.

For more than 20 years, Colette continually studied many different therapies stemming from the field of Energy Psychology.  These studies include EFT with Gary Craig, Thought Field Therapy, Matrix Energetics, Bodytalk, Quantum techniques, Seemorg Matrix as well as many others.

In 2013 Colette co-founded a new method in the field of psychology (Manifesting All Possibilities(TM), MAP for short.

Through the use of MAP, practitioners are able to create extraordinary results. The method was proven effective to rewire the brain through the use of QEEG technology. MAP is a revolution in the field of psychology as it gets instantaneous results without the use of tapping or even talking.

What will you learn in this episode of The Happiness of Pursuit Podcast:

  • 7 Steps To High-Performance
  • The importance of happiness in becoming successful
  • Why top athletes and entrepreneurs NEED a business coach
  • How to create happiness and reach your goals at lightning speed

The Happiness of Pursuit Podcast – Episode #75

How Focusing on Value Can Triple (3x) Your Business with Jen Berson, Founder of JenerationPR

Success meant being able to control my own time

The hardest part of starting a business is finding customers. The second hardest part of a business is parting ways with a client.

This past year, JenerationPR tripled their business, yes 3x, and Jen Berson attributes that success by parting ways with her first, and longest standing client. For most people, that would sound absolutely insane. Yet, when you take a deep honest look at your life and your business, you need to get clear about what’s holding you back and where you can deliver value.

Throughout this episode, Jen shares how the focus on value helped her scale her business. What was unique about Jen’s perspective on value, is it was not limited to the value she provides to her clients, but also to the people on her team and how she can add value to their lives by giving them flexibility in their daily lives.

What you will learn on this episode of The Happiness of Pursuit Podcast:

  • Why you might need to fire your client
  • How to change your mindset to scale your business

The Underdog’s Secret To Winning…

The Happiness of Pursuit Podcast – Episode #74

The Underdog’s Secret To Winning…

One simple word: Momentum

Regardless if you’re a fan of sports or not, what happened in Super Bowl 51 was one of the greatest comebacks in history…(well except for when the New York Giants came back to beat the Patriots in Super Bowl 48, but I’m a giants fan!)

Halfway through the third quarter of Super Bowl 51, my wife said to me “This game seems pretty boring…” Without even knowing it, my reply would have nearly predicted the future, “It’s Tom Brady, all you have to do is watch the 4th quarter…”

What Tom Brady accomplished in the 4th quarter was impossible by almost any stretch of the imagination.

So was it Brady’s #GOAT (greatest of all time) ability that helped them win? Yes, but it wasn’t the only reason…like many of the historic comebacks in sports, and business, it came down to one simple scientific fact: momentum.

Momentum is the single biggest force, and when you learn how to turn it back in your favor, no matter the odds, you can, and more often than not, will win.

So the question is, how do you get momentum on your side?

First, we need to understand what momentum is and how it is created.

By definition,

Momentum is the quantity of motion of a moving body, measured as a product of its mass and velocity.

What’s more important is how momentum is created, and that is through what is called a “Moment of Inertia” – that single event of force to cause a body at rest to begin to move.

To pick up momentum, you can do one of two things, increase the speed (velocity) or the mass.

The reason that the Patriots won Super Bowl 51 was because they took over the momentum. In almost every single comeback story in sports there is a “turning point”, that moment in time, that single event, where “the tide shifted” – that right there was the moment of inertia the team needed to swing momentum in their favor.

Sure, luck might play a part in it, but the real difference in many of the comeback stories you read about for a lifetime, comes down to three crucial things: preparedness, leadership, and community.

1. Preparedness

There’s a reason that top athletes practice so hard. It’s preparation for that one opportunity, the “full count, bases loaded, bottom of the ninth,” type of moment. Michael Jordon was notorious for his work ethic, and with 6x NBA Championships, it’s hard to say that it just came down to “luck”. Look at every level of sports and take the top performers, especially the “winners” and you will see a constant effort to be prepared to seize the moment, and push momentum into their favor.

2. Leadership

In every great comeback story, you can almost pinpoint the speech, the moment when the Captain or Coach rallies the team. It’s rarely about motivation. Everybody on the bench ‘wants to win’, but few believe ‘they can win’. In Michael Strahan’s book, he shares the story about how in the second half of Super Bowl 48, he walked down the sidelines and started telling his teammates we are going to win. To some, he even told them the score. As scary as it sounds, he was right – down to the final number.  It was that firm belief in what was possible, and having put in the work to be prepared for this moment that allowed the rest of the team to rally around those words and again, change the momentum and win!

3. Community

Finally, the last piece to changing momentum and mounting a comeback comes down to the people around you. As that leader begins to share the belief that they can win, it inspires those around them. From there, they begin to spread the word even further, and before you know it the entire sideline, bench, dugout, and even the crowd begin to believe. It is that fundamental belief in what is possible that makes a comeback not only possible but probable. This groundswell of support will strike fear in your competition and tip the final scale of momentum in your favor. In almost every sport, that’s why the crowd (the 12th man in Football) is so important – they believe!

What does momentum mean for you and your business?

Whether you believe you can, or believe you can’t. You are right.

-Henry Ford

Momentum can work for and against you. How you want to use it is up to you. If you need to turn the tide, it’s going to take hard work, patience, and great leadership. Belief in your company, and in yourself, that anything is possible. Finally, it comes down to your team and your community, to rally behind that shared belief that you can conquer the world.

The choice is yours: either you can turn momentum in your favor and unlock a world of greatness, or you can allow it work against you. You own the future!

How to Start a Business by Accident with Kris Reid

The Happiness of Pursuit Podcast – Episode #68 with Kris Reid, “The Coolest Guy in SEO” and Founder of Ardor Media Factory.

There’s a theme amongst many of this show’s guests that starts something like this…

“Well after I lost my job in 2008…”

Like millions of others, I lost my job in 2008 as a result of the economy downturn. I was fortunate to find another job quickly, but part of me wonders if I had taken the leap into entrepreneurship sooner what life would look like today?

Fortunately, this episode’s guest took that leap and has built an incredibly successful SEO business that operates primarily online. Here’s some background to give some context:

My name is Kris Reid. I am a Software Engineer, originally from Brisbane where I graduated from the Queensland University of Technology (A university for the real world).

I was backpacking around the world a few years ago and because of my love for software development, I built an online game. As the completion day came near for the game I made, I thought that I should learn how to market if anyone else is ever going to play with it. So, I started studying how Google works and learned about Search Engine Optimisation. I quickly discovered how important backlinks are – not just any backlinks, but only quality backlinks with relevant and compelling content on powerful industry-specific websites.

Then, I set out to build the perfect service to provide just that – high-quality backlinks with compelling content on industry-specific websites.

Fast forward a few years later, I now have a permanent office based here in Davao City, Philippines. It’s a quiet beach-side city that gives me access to virtually-unlimited skilled writers, editors, and content marketers to provide essentially limitless amounts of super high-quality powerful backlinks.

What I loved about Kris’ story, was the simple fact that his business came from taking action. He had followed a passion in building a game, however, he needed to find a way to bring it to market and in doing so found a great business opportunity.

That is yet another example of why I encourage listeners to simply take action! That simple choice will lead to so many opportunities for you in business, in your relationships and in life.

What you will learn in this episode of The Happiness of Pursuit Podcast:

  • The importance of taking action
  • Why you need to pursue your passion, despite the critics
  • How to start a business by solving a problem
  • The importance of learning from the past (lessons from Stoicism)

How To Make Your New Years Resolution Stick

Make New Years Resolutions Stick

It’s that time of year again…

Everyone is excited about a “new year, new me”. The gyms are full, people are positive, and productivity is at an all-time high…at least until Friday.

I want this year to be the year that you not only keep that New Years Resolution – but start with one big enough to make meaningful change in your life that will carry you beyond 2017. Here are three simple tips to help.

How to make your New Years Resolution Stick.

We are so bound by this tie to a ‘New Year, New Me,’ that we rarely seek to understand the rationale behind what it takes to change a habit, nor do we look deep enough to prepare ourselves to make lasting and meaningful changes in your life.

If New Years is a catalyst, or tipping point, or a motivator for you to make progress; use that as the initial motivator; however you’re going to need to connect to something bigger and understand the basics of motivation. It is controlled by two forces, PAIN or PLEASURE. You are either going to run from the

Simply put, motivation is derived from two forces, PAIN or PLEASURE. You are either going to run from the PAIN or RUN towards PLEASURE. The challenge most people face when it comes to setting longstanding goals is either the pain is not severe enough, nor is the pleasure great enough for people for the consequences of attaining the goals.

For example, if your New Years resolution is losing 10 lbs, it is unlikely that those 10 lbs are making life painful, nor will losing them provide enough pleasure to have an impact to make you stick to your New Years Resolution! Now if you said I want to lose 25 lbs to help run my first marathon – that’s got a chance of sticking.

BONUS TIP: If you really want to make it stick – GO REGISTER for a marathon right now! Don’t wait for a friend, just do it (literally RIGHT NOW)!

The whole premise of The Happiness of Pursuit Podcast is to inspire people to find their passion, take action, and build the life they want. In doing so, listeners will find the happiness that comes with the pursuit of attaining that goal, versus trying to find happiness.

When you align your goals and activities with what your passionate about, you are more likely to be able to survive the tough days – the days when you feel like skipping a workout or eating the candy.

To emphasize this point, here’s a great story from Jeff Hoffman about how Evander Holyfield committed to working out, and how he stays true to his commitment to excellence (click here – skip to 39:30).

Regardless of whether or not we talk about a bucket list, or a new years resolution, the single choice to intentionally take action to chase your dreams will be the difference between a fulfilling life, and a life of regret.

There is no life-hack or simple tip I can share when it comes to making your New Years Resolution stick. All you need to do is TAKE ACTION – JUST DO IT!

As you begin your journey in 2017, I want to leave you with one simple quote:

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. – Winston Churchill

Take a step every single day in the direction of your dreams. Every day that you do that, you move closer to whatever dream you have. If it’s running that marathon, try to run a little further every day.

You have a ton of greatness within you, and no matter how big your dream is – YOU CAN DO IT!

May this year be the year you start to pursue the big things and may happiness follow you in that journey.

If there is ANYTHING I can do to help you in you please connect with me here. I look forward to sharing in your journey.

Happy New Year!

I was introduced to Sunniva by show favorite, Regan Hillyer who appeared on Episode #31, so I knew that she was going to be a great fit for the show, and she hit it out of the park (sorry, for the baseball analogy, but I still pumped about the Toronto Blue Jays postseason success).

Sunniva Hold is a serial entrepreneur, property developer, coach, speaker, social media queen and author of “The Hustle Life” (a must read). She is also a self-made multi-millionaire by the age of 30, and uses her expertise to teach people around the world how to accelerate their levels of successful results and outcomes from a stockpile of experience across multiple business and wellness related disciplines.

Like many of the guests of the show Sunniva broke the traditional mold of working your 9-to-5 to start what has become a real estate empire. There are so many great life lessons throughout this interview that you can apply to your life immediately.
