Have you struggled with diets?

Let’s be honest, we all have! That’s why I was so excited to talk with someone who started an “Anti-diet movement”.

The description of JJ newest book, “The Invisible Fitness Formula: 5 Secrets to Release Weight & End Body Shame”, sums up our conversation perfectly:

If you’ve struggled with finding a deeper, healthier, and happier connection to your body, food, and lifestyle, the Invisible Fitness Formula is the answer. How To Step Up, Be Bold, and Play Big In Business

The Happiness of Pursuit Podcast – Episode #93 with Vanessa Shaw

From Stay-at-home mom to 7-figure entrepreneur.

When people pay more, they pay attention

I knew when I read Vanessa’s Bio, that the interview was going to align with the goal of the show to help people reach their full potential.

What I was not expecting, is how real, genuine and valuable the advice would be that followed.

After a few years as an active stay-at-home Mom, the burning desire for entrepreneurship peaked and Vanessa Shaw started a wellness benefit with 6 clients at $50/hour. As fast as the business win came, she lost the initial clients. Having to start over, she took that lesson and increased her fees. Within two years she had built a

Within two years she had built a 6-figure business after landing a large law firm. For the next 3 years, she enjoyed the success, but at the sacrifice of her happiness. Around the 5 year mark, she lost that client and nearly went bankrupt.

It was in that struggle, she rebuilt quickly only to take one of the biggest leaps of faith…

Vanessa sold their home, left Europe, and started completely from scratch in California, all while her husband continued to work overseas for 2 more years.

Most people, even those close to her, said it was insane, but her dedication, commitment, and drive have led to rebuilding a nearly 7-figure business.

What you will learn in this episode of The Happiness of Pursuit Podcast:

  • Entrepreneurship is NOT right for everyone (learn who should be, and who shouldn’t)
  • The importance of charging what you are worth
  • How to Go Big!
  • Why you need to follow your heart to do what you really want

How To Find Happiness

The Happiness of Pursuit Podcast – Episode #91

Find your gift and give it to the world! – WordPlay T.Jay

I was blown away by the insight and tactical advice that WordPlay T. Jay shared in this episode. After struggling with depression, he found music. That passion grew inside of him, and he knew that he could share his gift with the world and spread happiness and a message of positivity in a genre typically filled with violence.

WordPlay T. Jay broke through after hustling his way onto MTV’s RapFix.

What surprised me in this interview, was his insight into music is a skill that anyone can learn.

If you work hard enough, anything can be learned and perfected. It is just about getting on stage.

How To Make Failure Your Friend (A Lesson For Entrepreneurs)

Flip your “What IF” from a Negative to a Positive – Bond, The Ad Strategist

This episode is one of the rawest and most authentic interviews to date (it contains some swearing, so make sure the kids aren’t in the car). We go deep into what entrepreneurship is REALLY LIKE.

If you have been following this podcast for a while, you know how important mindset is to building a business. In today’s episode of The Happiness of Pursuit Podcast, Amanda Bond, better know as Bond, founder of The Ad Strategist, dives deep into her personal transformation, and how she allows her gut and passion to guide her business.

What was shocking to me, was the fact that after numerous failures, Bond kept going and has built one of the most reputable Facebook Ad management businesses in the space.

In the interview, Bond shares the story about how she bounced back from a $10,000 chargeback after completing 3 months of hard work (for those who are unfamiliar with a chargeback, the client basically makes a claim and their money is returned). For most people, that would have been the end of their business – they would have thrown in the towel.

Bond, shares how working on her mindset helped her embrace failure, and allowed her to survive those inevitable tough times in business.

How To Turn Your Power Into Profit

From selling strollers and car seats to paying off his mortgage in 3 years, Alex Barker has mastered the side hustle…

Don’t forget family – 80% of your time with your kids will become before they are 18.

I knew from the moment Alex reached out to me on Facebook that we were going to have a great conversation.

Alex Barker is the founder of The Happy PharmD, which is a niche blog dedicated to helping pharmacists create a side hustle.

What I didn’t know about Alex, was the reason behind his businesses. Early in his pharmacy career, Alex and his wife had a burning desire to help other couples adopt. The challenge, as a pharmacist it would be very difficult for them to do this so Alex started his journey into entrepreneurship.

With very little business background, Alex started to buy and resell used baby strollers and car seats online. Realizing his limitations and wanting to help more people, Alex started his media company, began consulting, and now has created a number of courses to help pharmacists.

What you will learn in this episode of The Happiness of Pursuit Podcast:

  • How to create your side hustle
  • The importance of taking action
  • Why self-education is the best education

The Greatest Lessons in Entrepreneurship from Sergio Garcia’s Masters Win

The Happiness of Pursuit Podcast – Episode #81 Sergio Garcia’s Masters Win

The Greatest Lessons in Entrepreneurship from Sergio Garcia’s Masters Win

In an 18 year professional career, marked by four runner-up finishes, two of which were decided by playoffs, and years of criticism and personal struggle; Sergio Garcia finally won his first major at The Masters.

What was astounding about his win, wasn’t the years of heartbreak, or even the underdog story in itself, he was actually a favorite in most odds. It was the fact that Sergio Garcia never gave up, and not just in this tournament, but in his pursuit of a major championship.

Here is a quick snapshot of Sergio Garcia’s near Major Championship Wins:

Sergio Garcia Green Jacket

  • 1999 PGA Championship – finished second to Tiger Woods, but was made famous when he hit a miraculous blind shot with his eyes closed followed by a sprint and scissor kick to see where the ball had landed
  • 2007 Open Championship – led after all three rounds, made bogey on 18 to eventually lose to Pádraig Harrington in a 4-hole playoff
  • 2008 Tour Championship – after leading again in the final round, Pádraig Harrington came from behind to win by two, leaving Sergio Garcia in second again
  • 2014 Open Championship – finished second to a red-hot Rory McIlroy
  • 2017 Masters – won in a playoff over Justin Rose

Why was Sergio Garcia’s win at The Masters so important?

He proved two very important lessons for success: 1. You have to be in it for the long game, and 2. Never, ever give up.

Why you have to be in it for the long game

While life may seem “short” at times, we have an abundance of opportunity. No matter what your career may be, or what goals you have in life, there is actually a lot of time and ways to get there. Sergio Garcia has played in 73 Major PGA Tournaments and in 4 different times finished second.

There are two ways to look at this, either Sergio is cursed, or at some point, he is bound to win.

Phil Mickelson went through a similar criticism before he eventually won The Masters.

The fact of the matter is simple, the more times you put yourself in a position to win, the more likely you will succeed. For Sergio, he believed it was a matter of time, and at The 2017 Masters, he was right.

For you, regardless of your career, or business, you need to find ways to put yourself in the position to win. You won’t win all the time, and you’ll even lose some heartbreaking deals, but more often than not you will finish on top.

Why you should never, ever give up.

On the 13th hole at Augusta, Sergio Garcia hit his ball left of the creek into the trees. He was forced to take a drop and a penalty stroke. At that point in time, Justin Rose had a two-stroke lead, and by most odds, would likely be stretched to four-strokes after this hold.

Remarkably, Garcia made par and Rose three-putted for par. Garcia went on to birdie 14, and eagle 15. The momentum had switched.

When you are patient and consistent, success is inevitable. The moment that you decide you are not worthy, or that the feat is impossible, you are right! When you grind, no matter the circumstances, eventually you will come out on top.

After 4 runner-up finishes, 37 major tournaments, and countless setbacks, Sergio Garcia finally won his major.

You too can win. The recipe is simple: be patient, consistent, and never give up, EVER!

The Safest Way to Become an Entrepreneur

The Happiness of Pursuit Podcast – Episode #77 with Karem Kalin

The Safest Way to Become an Entrepreneur and The Truth About Network Marketing

You can’t get to the end without going through the middle

I had the privilege of meeting Karem Kalin at a local entrepreneur breakfast where we heard Dragon Den Host (aka Dragon) and Best-selling Author of “The Wealthy Barber,” David Chilton speak. What was more interesting after getting to know Karem, she actually pitched her business idea on Dragons Den (for my American listeners, that’s the Canadian version of Shark Tank).

What really impressed me, was Karem’s keen ability to take action.

The entire goal of The Happiness of Pursuit Podcast was to inspire people to take action and pursue the life they want to live, and in doing so I believe they will find true happiness – well that is exactly what Karem did…

Ironically, the idea she pitched on Dragon’s Den (which she explains at about 5:25 in the episode), got to the point where it was too much and it led her to an opportunity with Arbonne, a Network Marketing Company. After 2 short years, Karem was able to replace her salary at her job in public health, which she had worked at for over 15 years.

Since leaving her job, Karem’s business has exploded and she now has the time and resources to pursue her true passion of traveling the globe with her family.

What you will learn in this episode of The Happiness of Pursuit Podcast:

  • The truth about network marketing (and how to find the right opportunity)
  • How go jump all in
  • How to find opportunities to fulfil your dream lifestyle
  • The importance of taking action
