The Happiness of Pursuit Podcast – Episode #45 with Nick Steele

The simple way to be happy at work – embrace the suck!

I’ll be honest, when I was doing my research on this episode’s guest, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I couldn’t find a lot on his background or any big career milestones…

Go find something you suck at, and get great at it!

After having the opportunity to Interview Nick Steele about how he got out of Las Vegas and living from one payday loan to another to find happiness in his career, my mind was blown!

His story could easily be made into a Hollywood Romantic Comedy or prequel to “This is 40!”…

In this interview, Nick shares an incredibly intimate story about how he got his start in radio, met his future wife and how rolling the dice and submitting a resume with Superman in the background completely turned his life around. That choice led to finding real happiness, and marrying his wife and now current c0-host at 101.9 The Wolf in Sacramento.

Nick’s uncanny ability to be himself and take risks should be examples for how people can turn not only their careers around but their entire lives!

What you will learn in this episode of The Happiness of Pursuit Podcast:

  • The importance of being yourself (even when submitting a resume)
  • Why you need to leave the bad behind you
  • How to break free of negativity
  • How to find happiness at work

I worked with Nick at his stop in Indiana along with his now wife Kristen. They did mornings and I did the night show. They’re great people and I didn’t realize how similar his story was to mine in terms of getting out and making something of yourself (I left Indiana and ended up in Florida in less than 3 years). Great podcast!
